Past Tense

                Past tense .. past tense .. sudah tau engga ap itu past tense? Sini nih aku kasih tau.. J Past tense is tell to the events or incidents at the past time. Maksudnya sih mau kasih tahu tentang kejadian yang udah lama terjadi kemarin, dua hari yang lalu, minggu lalu, bulan lalu, bahkan tahun lalu. Yang pastinya sih bukan sekarang, diinget tuhh.. sepele banget kan tuh (dikutip dari kata-kata Mr. Erwanto) heheheh…J

·   Past tense is used :

1.) When the speaker thinks of an activity or state as occurred and complete at a specific time in the past.

2.) For a non-fact in the present or future time. This is traditionally called the “subjunctive) mood”.

      Example : If I had the money now, I did buy a cycle.

1.) To refer a single event on the past.

      Example : I called Mary last night.

2.) The past habitual action.

Example : We went to school together, and we shared many experiences.

The simple past tense is kind of tense which is use to describe an event or action that happened already in a certain time in the past.

Adverb use :      Yesterday, last night, last week, two days ago, a few minutes ago, last weekend, last month,      last years in 1994, etc.

* Simple past for regular verbs is added by –ed the root of word.

    Example : She worked at the office yesterday.

* A negation is produces by adding did not and the verb in its infinitive form.

    Example : She did not  work at the office yesterday.

Question sentence are started with did not as in Did she work at the office yesterday?

Verbal : There are two pattern of simple past tense :

1.       (+) S + V3 + Complement

(-) S + did not + V1 + Complement

(?) Did + S + V1?

                        Nominal

2.       (+) S + to be (was/were) + O

(-) S + to be ( was/were) + O

(?) To be (was/wewe) + S + O?
